May Book Review!!

Monday, June 1, 2020

Hey y'all!! Happy Monday!! Also happy June!! That is literally crazy!! It is our first official week of summer here (although it has felt like summer since March!!), and we could not be more excited!!

Today I am sharing with y'all my May book review!! Ahhh!! I read some super good books this month, so I had to share!!

1. Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard
So if you read my May book review, then you would know that I read Red Queen. I really liked Red Queen!! It was dystopian (my favorite book type), and it had a lot of twists and turns!! So anyways, I really liked it!! So I decided to read Glass Sword (the second book in the Red Queen series)  this month, and this is my opinion: I did not like it. It had a lot more action (I'm not a huge action fan), and it just wasn't that interesting to me. I thought the concept of the book was good, but I just did not like it for some reason. It was a lot different from Red Queen, so I think that was why I didn't like it.

2. The Selection by Kiera Cass
Now on to The Selection!! I really liked this book!! It is dystopian society, and basically it is about this prince named Maxon, that is in line for the throne and he holds a "selection." A selection is basically like The Bachelor. 35 women go to the palace and compete for his love, and eventually he picks one girl to be his wife.  Basically it is about his girl named America Singer, and she is one of the selected girls. So yeah, it was really good!! There is some rebelling, not much action, and lots of other things!! Overall I really enjoyed this book!!

3. The Elite by Kiera Cass
The Elite is the second book in The Selection Series!! Basically Prince Mason had to choose 5 girls to stay at the palace (the elite) due to certain circumstances. And once again, it is about Prince Maxon choosing his wife.

4. The One by Kiera Cass
This is the final book of The Selection Series!! In this book Prince Maxon decides on his wife. The ending is a big twist, and it ends pretty unexpectedly, but also kind of you get what I'm saying? Haha!! But this book/series, was really good!!

5. The Heir by Kiera Cass
This is kind of a "sequel series" to the original Selection Series. It is about this princess named Eadlyn who holds a selection-bachelorette style. I can't really say too much or else, I would spoil it, but it is basically a lot different from the original series, but still really good!!

6. The Crown by Kiera Cass
So The Crown is the final book in all of The Selection series. Eadlyn ends up picking her husband, and that is basically it!! A lot of unexpected things occur, and it ends really different than we all thought. But it was still really good, and I enjoyed it!!

I also wanted to say that The Selection is turning into a Netflix movie soon, and I am very excited!!

7. The Kissing Booth by Beth Reekles
So I'm sure most of you have heard of The Kissing Booth through the Netflix movie. I've seen the movie, and I really liked it, so once I saw that they had a book, I immediately wanted to read it...and that's what I did!! This book is a lot different from the movie, but also very similar in many ways!!  I really liked this book, so if you liked the movie, I think you would like it too!!

8. The Kissing Booth 2: Going The Distance
This is the second Kissing Booth book, and if you didn't know, it is being made into a movie this summer!! I really wanted to read it, because I was very curious of what was going to happen!! Once again, I really kind it and can't wait for the movie this summer!!

9. The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
I finally read a Percy Jackson book!! And I really enjoyed it!! I liked this book, because I was trying to figure things out (right up my alley)!! I wasn't the biggest fan of the Greek mythology, but I still really liked it!! It was very interesting to read, and I found it very similar to Harry Potter!!

Well that was my May book review!! Thank you so much for reading, and I will see you here on Wednesday!!
