Monthly Musings + Thankful Thursday!!

Thursday, January 28, 2021

Happy Thursday!! Whew! Friday is tomorrow and I am SO READY!! It has been a WEEK!

I am super excited for today's post because I am linking up with Holly and Patty to share this month's rendition of Monthly Musings!!

I'm also linking up with Joanne for Encouraging Hearts and Home!!

Here are this month's questions...

Let's just get into it!!

1. How do you show love? What is your love language?

Okay. So my love language is quality time. My family might disagree with me because #introvert, but it is. Words of affirmations are nice, but I also feel awkward saying/receiving them. I'm not saying that I don't love and appreciate them, because I do, they just aren't my love language. Acts of service. Okay. Y'all, I wish this was my love languageπŸ˜‚ Acts of service are so nice, and I definitely love them, I just don't do them😬 I know, I know. I wish I did them more. We'll work on that in 2021πŸ˜‰ Now for touch. Touch is my "least love language." Is that how you put it? Haha!! Well, I am not a touchy person. In the slightest. I like my own bubble, my own space, and just not to be touched. I don't like hugs or anything. I wish that I was more of a touchy person, but I'm just not. Maybe it's a claustrophobia thing, or maybe it's just because I'm an introvert. Gift time! So, I used to think that I wasn't a gifts person, but Christmas 2020 taught me otherwise. I have now realized that I love giving gifts. Christmas this year was the only year that I got everyone in my family a gift, and I loved it!! Seeing their reactions, and seeing them enjoy their gifts made my heart so happy.

So there you have it!! Here are all of them ranked:

1. Quality Time
2. Gifts
3. Words of Affirmations
4. Acts of Service
5. Touch

I would put quality time over gifts, but I think that they are very close. Quality time is easier for me to give, but I enjoy giving gifts the most. Does that make sense? Let me know what your love language is!!

2. Do you have any fun Valentine's traditions?

We're not huge Valentine's Day celebrators. That being said, we don't really have any traditions. We'll usually have pink pancakes for breakfast (maybe waffles), my parents and grandparents will always give us a little treat like candy or a gift card, and my dad, sister, and I will usually go out for dinner. This year, all I want to do is wear a comfy pink shirt and binge all the Harry Potter movies...How awesome does that sound?

3. Favorite Valentine's memory?

I'm not really sure!! I guess I'd say our daddy-daughter dates!!

4. Favorite Valentine's Treat?

Hmm. Maybe chocolate? Haha!! Chocolate is the best treat year-round!! But I'd also say chocolate-covered strawberries. We don't really make them, but they're so yummy!!

5. Do you wear Valentine Day's fashion?

Not anymore!! My mom used to dress Anna and I up each year!! Look how cute...

Haha!! I think Valentine's fashion is super cute, I just never participate!! I mean I have a few pink sweaters, but that's as far as my Valentine fashion goes!!

6. Valentine's, like, or hard pass?

I'd say that I like it. I mean, it's a commercial holiday. It's a fun idea, and who doesn't want to sit around and eat chocolate? But, it's not my favorite...I like it.

7. What do you think is the most romantic song?

Umm, You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift!! Haha!! Just kidding!! I'm not really sure. The first one that comes to mind is Perfect by Ed Sheeran, but Lover by Taylor Swift is definitely up there!! Oooh, All of Me by John Legend!! That is definitely one of the most romantic songs!! A Thousand Years by Christina Perri is one of them, but this song just breaks my heart. Every time I watch this scene in Twilight the tears start flowing...Haha!! I wouldn't call this one the most romantic but it is a very sweet song. And that is I'm Yours by Jason Mraz!

8. Dine out, take out or cook in this Valentine's Day?

If I got to choose, it would be take out!! No cooking, no dishes...An easy meal!! But, we'll probably cook in. I'm not sure what we're having, but I'm going to place my bets on either spaghetti, grilled chicken, or wings!!

9. Pink or red?

Pink, pink, pink!!

10. Flowers or chocolate?

Probably chocolate, but I do love me some flowers!!

Well, that was this month's edition of monthly musings!! Now I'm going to share a few things that I'm thankful on this Thursday!! I'm linking up with Rebecca!!

1. I am thankful for a great workout this morning!! Random. I know. But, I've been struggling with what to do when I work out!! Small victories. 😊

2. I am happy that the week is turning around. On Monday and Tuesday, I was buzzing!! I was very anxious about school, and just everything, but things are turning around!! Woohoo!!

3. Science is almost done!!!! I have TWO MORE tests in science!! I have been taking multiple tests in science each week, so I will be so happy once it's all over!! Not to mention a little bit of sleeping in...My science zoom is at 8😩 But, it'll be worth it.

4. I am very, very, VERY thankful that we get to get out of the house tomorrow!! I am so excited!! We're heading down to Birmingham for the day and I could not be more excited!!

5. This past Saturday, Anna was with a friend and Huddy was hunting, so I got to spend the day with my mom!! We did some shopping, watched Harry Potter, and just had a lot of fun!! I'm very, very thankful for this one-on-one time!!

That wraps up this post!! Thank you so much for reading and I will see you here again tomorrow!!

  1. I loved reading this, Ella!! I agree, Valentine’s day is fun but it's a commercial holiday so it doesn't hold too much importance to me! Are you sure your favorite Valentine's Day memory is me crying during lunch and you having to hug me? I thought those were great times! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  2. Valentine's day is fun and if the focus stays on the fun and away from the drama...

  3. Very open and honest words about your love languages, Belle. Love you!

  4. Thank you for joining Holly and me for Monthly Musings. I am loving your song recommendations. For your Thankful've got this with all of your work. Enjoy your time in Birmingham!

  5. I'm going to have to do that Valentine question link up - so fun!
I love a daddy daughter date - even as an adult, dont let them go - enjoy all the daddy time you can get!
Small victories TOTALLY make a difference!!! Good for you getting workouts in just for your health & mental health.
Have a great time on your trip & getting out seeing the world instead of sitting inside your house :)

  6. Thank you for sharing the love languages, Belle. I won’t try to hug you so much πŸ˜‚. Great personal insight, though. Love this post and you ❤️.

    1. This is Nana! Why are my posts showing up as PopPop?? πŸ˜‚

  7. I love this!! Your daddy-daughter dates seem so nice. I love that you got to have some one-on-one time with your mom.

  8. I love the picture of you and your mom! I so agree about touch. My love language is acts of service though - do something for me and I'll love you forever. We don't celebrate Valentine's Day, but I do celebrate love!

  9. That picture of you and your sister is so so precious! Give yourself a break on the service piece- I think you are already doing great and ahead of the game for your age- you should be proud!

  10. Next to Thanksgiving, Valentine's day is my favorite holiday! I honestly think all of those love languages resonate with me.

  11. I love Perfect by Ed Sheeran too. And one-on-one time with your mom sounds like heaven!

    1. It’s such a sweet song!! It was really nice!! Thank you!!

  12. Pretty sure touch is low on my list too. Some good songs on your list, I couldn't think of one. ;) Hope you have a great day!

  13. Great post Ella!! I feel you, it has been a long week and I am ready for the weekend!!

  14. Awe the picture of you and your sister, and then the one of just you with the flower in your hair... so adorable.

  15. I loved all of the pics and seeing what you do on Valentine’s Day! Great post!
